I'd like to hear what you all consider to be your favorite 5 songs. These are songs you can never get tired listening to, always make you feel better after listening to them, and don't mind when they get stuck in your head. I've got quite a few favorites in my music collection myself, but I was hoping to perhaps expand on it with something you love, that i might not have just yet. If I get enough songs, I'll burn them to a couple CDs and play it at one of our COA meetings.
My favorite 5 songs are... ---Such Great Heights by Postal Service - Makes me think about my future in the space industry. Music video is cool to. ---Kashmir by Led Zeppelin - Tells a fantasy story in a way only Zeppelin can. Song is just excellent with the Arabic background music and drums. ---Dreams by The Cranberries - A song that always inspires me through its lyrics and beat. Plus her voice and the drums are amazing ---The River of Dreams by Billy Joel - Just a happy song that makes me think of good times. So much is going on in this song, it overwealms the senses in sheer ecstasy. Course thats just me ---Porcelain by Moby - Although its a song about lost love, the over all sound reminds me of how beautiful everything is. Best memory of this song is when I was driving through Yosemite valley with majestic mountains on either side of me.
Even with a 5 song limit, it was still hard filtering my top favorites. Thats why I didn't request just one song
Feel free to offer us incite onto what makes you like the songs you chose. It's a tough request, yes, but I enjoyed writing this and I can't wait to hear what you all love!

good idea for a thread Tyler. hmm. i have too much music to choose just five songs. These may not be my favorites. but these are some songs i can listen to again and again.
---Death To Traitors by Beloved [R.I.P] - older (now finished) band. really passionate. for some reason i can feel it really strongly in this song. sense of urgency i think is really inspiring. ---The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teethby Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - this song makes me so happy. love the lyrics. i cant help smiling when i listen to it. Clap Your Hands has a sense of freedom in their music to me-especially in the self titled album this song is from. ---Red Wine, Success! by Cold War Kids - I really love the sound of this one. Tough to choose a single song from that band cause all their stuff is splendid. ---Someday, In The Event That Mankind Actually Figures Out What It Is That This World Revolves Around, Thousands Of People Are Going To Be Shocked And Perplexed To Find Out That It Was Not Them. Sometimes This Includes Me. by The Chariot - I love the lyrics to this song.. I didn't know that this fuse was for the end of it all. With a grin and a flame I watch the glory. With my back pressed against the wall and my face six feet from the ground, a smile escapes, because my closet holds no bones. will post more later.

Hmm, this is rather difficult picking out just 5 but here goes:
1. Less Than Nothing by Demon Hunter - Such a haunting melody! It's a rather cynical lyrically though. 2. Already Gone by Crossfade - I just recently heard this song and immediately fell in love with it as the lyrics spoke to me because of a personal experience. 3. Grand Canyon by FFH - This song so beautifully portrays the fact that God never gives up on us! 4. Invincible by Skillet - Good overall! It's something like techno/industrial/rock... simply superb. 5. I'm So Sick by Flyleaf - It was hard to choose between this one, Sweet Sacrifice by Evanecscence, or Coming Undone by Korn cause they're all so good! This one expressed my attitude really well at the time I heard it.

Nice, I've downloaded most of them. I'm totally surprised by the different tastes in music. In fact I haven't even heard a few of those. Unfortunately I hope you understand that I can't put a few of them on the CD due to the fact they don't mesh well with the ambiance of the meetings.
But keep them coming!

Why do some dreamers get to live out their dreams, while other dreamers have to observe their dream?

Gah, it took me forever to choose which songs I liked best. Ask me for the full list later....I didn't get to put half of the songs I wanted up. Here's a list...might change depending on what I'm feeling like.
1. Are you a dreamer? Denison Witmer. I love this song so much. I love Deni’s calming voice and his beautiful words. I connect with them so deeply. I love all his music and the allusions in his songs to scripture 2. Stars By: David Crowder I love the vividness and imagery of this song. Definitely inspiring to me. 3. Yankee Bayonet By The Decemberists I love the words of the song. They remind me of a poem I wrote. I also like them because it brings up good memories of Mexico. 4.The Glass Can only Spill what it Contains by mewithoutYou “we’re like children dressing in our parent’s clothes….” I love mewithoutYou.....like so much 5. Brand New Colony By: Postal Service I wish I could have the freedom that this song contains. I love the lyrics. “We’ll cut our bodies free from the tethers of this scene, start a brand new colony, where everything will change, We’ll give ourselves new names….”

AHHH. heather. I think i absolutely LOVE all of your top five songs. aaah. amazing amazing. all of those bands. very very very favorites. Ah. love them. wish i'd thought of more.
and i will. heres more i can think of now that are so great.
--Cakewalk --by The Snake The Cross The Crown... and The Threshold Of Eternity is another perfect one by them. eek. great great band. really need their cd. --How I Remember You --by Sullivan. another awesome band. yes--its a guy singing. another good one by them is Gardens. They're more obscure ones from that cd rather than the singles. but they're wonderful. --Tin Mans Throne and New Jerusalem and The Governor by Cassino. Awesome band. Just discovered actually. am definately getting that cd. birthday coming up Sept 2nd thankfully. should help me with all this music. haha. --EISLEY. w00t. 'Invasion' --'Leaf' by MewithoutYou. Song that has been a strong word in my life. relate so strongly to the message. it speaks with me. --my favorite Decemberists song? Summersong maybe. dunno.
and some good ole screamy ones:
--Salvation by The Devil Wears Prada. actually not too screamy. Mostly pretty piano really. Could be okay on a cd that one. Another good one (and more like the rest of their music) is Texas Is South. --Golgotha by With Blood Comes Cleansing. deathcore? lol. i have no idea. the different 'classifications' are a bit pathetic after all. --We Are The Archers --by Oh, Sleeper --anything by Drop Dead, Gorgeous. one of my favorites.
heavy song that has been a constant strength for me.. just one that has rung so true with me. multiple times.. (look up the lyrics) --Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste by Norma Jean. super well known in the underground music scene actually.. but awesome song.
sorry this is so crazy long. my bad. thankyou Tyler. .bryn

Don't Give Up(You Are Loved)-Josh Groban The title explains it all. I feel like he's singing directly to me. He sings what I need to remember constantly. Ordinary Miracle-Sarah McLachlan I love her. All of her songs just hit my heart. Her voice completely amazes me. She reminds me that everything is a miracle in life. My Silent Undoing- Queen AdreenaThis song is a very strange song and it scared me the first time I listened to it. But it's pretty strait forward why its on my five. More Than A Memory-Garth Brooks Well, This song is just sort of one that I listened to after a break-up. I enjoyed listening to it and make myself feel miserable. Don't ask why because I have no clue. But now I listen to it to remind myself of how I got through it. Tied Together With A Smile-Taylor Swift This is a song that describes me perfectly and I don't think that anyone would expect it from me. Just look at the lyrics and you'll understand. I'm quite the emotional person, but not a lot of people know that about me unless I get close to you. "hold on, baby you're losing it the waters high, your jumping into it and letting go and no one knows that you cry, but you don't tell anyone that you might not be the golden one and your tied together with a smile but your coming undone"
These all seem like songs that you would never see together except the first two, but that kind of how I am. Very random. I'm like the weather, somewhat unpredictable.
